Compilation: NBA Draft projections 4.0
With invitations to the green room issued--Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and John Henson were all invited, which means the NBA feels fairly confident the trio will be top 10-15 picks--and the draft just two days away, mock drafts are starting to gain some clarity. The picks unfold Thursday night at 7:30 on ESPN, and here's the latest look at the projections for all four Tar Heels. Kendall Marshall did not receive an invitation to the green room but is still expected to be a first-round pick.
The mock drafts below are listed in descending order of most recent update. In other words, the most recent update is at the top of the list. All have been updated either this week or over the weekend.
We'll update these projections again on Thursday before the draft, and then we'll check back on Friday to see which predictions were most accurate.
CBSSports.com: Barnes 5th to Kings, Henson 9th to Pistons, Zeller 10th to Hornets (Zeller and Anthony Davis would be a formidable pairing), Marshall 13th to Suns.
ESPN.com: (requires Insider subscription) Barnes 4th to Cavs, Zeller 11th to Blazers, Henson 14th to Rockets, Marshall 20th to Nuggets.
NBA.com: Barnes 4th to Cavs, Marshall 10th to Hornets, Zeller 11th to Blazers, Henson 14th to Rockets.
DraftExpress.com: Barnes 5th to Kings, Henson 11th to Blazers, Zeller 12th to Bucks, Marshall 18th to Rockets.
NBADraft.net: Barnes 4th to Cavs, Zeller 12th to Bucks, Henson 14th to Rockets, Marshall 17th to Mavericks.
SI.com: Barnes 4th to Cavs, Marshall 11th to Trail Blazers, Zeller 12th to Bucks, Henson 14th to Rockets.
The lack of science in these projections should be obvious by the above lists. The consensus seems to be that Barnes will be the fourth or fifth pick overall, Henson won't get past the Rockets at 14 but could go as high as 9th, Zeller is in the 10-12 range and won't get past the Bucks, and the Marshall picks are all over the place--from a high of 10th to a low of 20th.
