Three Things: Tar Heel Tour
The Tar Heel Tour stopped by the Blue Zone at Kenan Stadium on Tuesday, April 17. Here are three things we learned:
1. Larry Fedora is ready to get things started. He liked what he saw at the Blue & White spring game on April 14th, but he wants more from his team: more speed, more strength, and more mindfulness of the new playbook. Also, Fedora hit home about supporting the team through yet another tough transition, saying “You say good things about UNC, you pump us up. You say negative things, you're hurting the university you love."
2. Roy Williams had not begun the interview process yet to fill the empty coaching position on his staff as of April 17th. He did say that 14 former Tar Heels had shown interest in the position as well as two former Jayhawks, adding that he prefers the position be filled with someone who has “Tar Heel ties.”
3. Former Tar Heel offensive tackle Brian Chacos was the drawn prizewinner for the 2011-12 autographed men’s basketball. Many in attendance chuckled over the irony that a former student-athlete (who now works in the business office for the Carolina Hurricanes) would win such a sought after item, but Chacos couldn’t stop laughing himself as he says he has never won anything before.
