Weekend Watch: December 21-23

Here's the last Weekend Watch before Christmas! As Carolina students are on their winter break, there's not a whole lot on the calendar.

UNC Athletics

The men's basketball Tar Heels host McNeese State in an attempt to bounce back from a poor showing Wednesday at Texas. The Cowboys are 6-3 and have won five straight, including an 80-75 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock. Do you know where McNeese State is located? It's in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

On Thursday, former North Carolina Gov. Jim Martin presented the results of his independent investigation into academic irregularities in the African and Afro-American Studies programs at Carolina. Martin concluded that the anomalies were limited to one department and the problems uncovered were academic, not athletic, in nature.

Carolina baseball is ranked #2 nationally in the preseason, falling one point short of top-ranked Arkansas.

The Classical's Zac Crain has a neat portrait of Jerry Stackhouse. Although I have to take issue with Crain saying Stackhouse was no one's favorite player. As a ninth-grade football tight end, I wore #84 (twice Stackhouse's #42) in his honor.
