Weekend Watch: July 13-15

Happy Friday! It continues to be a fallow time in sports, with the MLB All-Star break the only day of the year that none of the big four pro sports are in action.

This 1992/2012 USA Basketball debate is getting silly. Larry Bird chimes in with the appropriate level of seriousness.

Harrison Barnes is impressing Warriors assistant Pete Myers in summer practice.

J.P. Tokoto opened some eyes with his high flying Thursday at the SJG Greater NC Pro-Am.

•Back from the All-Star break, Dustin Ackley, Kyle Seager and the Seattle Mariners host Texas this weekend.

•The Wall Street Journal wonders what the Mets should do with Matt Harvey. Maybe they should ask their own blogger, who knows everything.

•Speaking of Harvey, he pitched two hitless innings and recorded a pair of strikeouts in this week's Triple-A All-Star Game. In the same game, Tim Federowicz was 1-2 with an RBI double for the victorious Pacific Coast League.

•The Hagerstown Suns are in Greensboro for a series finale against the Grasshoppers. Colin Bates got the win in relief Wednesday night. Greg Holt could take the mound for Hagerstown tonight.

•The Ben Folds Five reunion stops in Cary at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on September 16. Tickets went on sale at 10 this morning.

•The only big movie release (everyone's avoiding Batman next weekend) is Ice Age: Continental Drift.

•Christmas in July! It's Christmas Classics Weekend on Hallmark Channel Saturday and Sunday. We have different definitions of 'classics.'
